An Earwig; also called a Pincher Bug.

Do you have bed bugs, carpet beetles, earwigs, cockroaches or possibly all three?

A homeowner, unnerved by what he thought was a bed bug, contacted our bed bug pest control company because he had unexplained red marks that he assumed were from bed bugs. We consulted with him over the phone and it turns out he had just moved into a new home about two months prior and was concerned bed bugs were in the home before his family moved in.

We were able to identify the pest as carpet beetles, but, unnerved that it could be both carpet beetles and bed bugs, the homeowner insisted on having an inspection to completely rule out bed bugs.

At our recommendation we conducted a visual inspection that yielded no evidence of any live bed bug activity.  This homeowner still wanted a bed bug dog inspection to complete a detailed inspection of the entire residence.  After completion, we were able to confirm that there were NO live bed bugs in the residence.

Yes, carpet beetles and not bed bugs. This is not the first time we have inspected and found only carpet beetles and not bed bugs.  Bed bugs have a bad reputation, and rightfully so because they can cause emotional stress!

In this case the homeowner did the right thing by calling. Utilizing our knowledge and inspections, we were able to rule out bed bugs as the problem pest, avoiding unnecessary stress and extermination costs.

The moral to this story, don't panic if you find a bug!  Do your research and find a Las Vegas Extermination Company that can offer the best advice to confirm if you truly have bed bugs.

Facts:

Carpet Beetles can cause "bite-like" reactions.
You cannot confirm that you have bed bugs based on bite marks/red marks.
You can have both carpet beetles and bed bugs, but a live bed bug and/or bed bugs needs to be 100% identified or bed bug treatment is not warranted.

Carpet Beetles

The three most common species of carpet beetles are the black carpet, common carpet and furniture carpet beetle. All species are roughly 3 millimeters in length and can damage fabric, furniture, carpeting and clothing that contain natural animal fibers. Their preferred habitat is within bird, rodent and insect nests, but they could easily be transported indoors. Depending on the species, their coloring can vary.

To schedule a Las Vegas Bed Bug Inspection you can contact K-9 Sweeps at 702-586-5179.

I was referred by my monthly pest control exterminator to call this company in Las Vegas to do an inspection because they don't treat for bed bugs. K-9 Sweeps came out and did a bed bug inspection and didn't fine any bed bugs but did find carpet beetles. I was sure that I had bed bugs and I didn't have them. The emotional stress was exhausting. I high recommend if you think you have bed bugs hire a company that knows what they are doing like K-9 Sweeps. The owner spent so much time with me and really educated me and did a thorough inspection. It will save you a lot of time, money and sleepless nights by using a company as knowledgeable as them because if you are being bitten by something other than bed bugs they will know it and they won't try to sell you anything you don't need.
